Since 2001 the Strong Stock events have rocked the Mid-Atlantic MR2 Region! Returning in 2007, Strong Stock will take the road event to a new level of butt clenching excitement!

The Fine Print

WARNING: Due to the nature of Strong Stock events, All drivers and passengers must be 18 years or older. ID's will be checked. There will be no exceptions. If you show up, you will be sent home if you do not meet the age requirements.
You car will be looked over to make certain that the car will make the event. Strong Stock events are long and will be very hard on your car. You equipment must be in top form. We suggest purchasing an auto club membership (i.e. AAA) just in case something happens.
This event is primarily a Toyota MR2 event. Other cars will be allowed.
Show-offs, dangerous drivers and excessive speeders will be told to go home. Strong Stock is not a race.
Racing Strong Motorsports is not responsible for any part of this meet. I only organize the meeting points. You are on your own. But... you must follow the above rules.
Virginia Police and State Troopers live for the kill. They will hide. They use the radio. If you get caught speeding exspect a rather large fine. If you are 21 mph over the speed limit expect jail time. If you have a radar detector in your car expect to lose it if you are pulled over. Remove it for the Virginia leg of the trip. They are illegal. A large group of sports cars will attract the attention of the law. Please be aware of that. As a side note I have been pulled over for having decals on my car. They were quite shocked when they looked in the car and saw two old people in it. They look for infractions. Is it fair? Probably not. So be prepared.

Now The Fun Stuff!

So what is Strong Stock? It is a road trip. A 3-day road trip involving cars and car enthusiasts. Guys and gals who love to hang out with other car nuts like themselves. We drive some the Mid-Atlantic's finest roads. Curves and straights set in old Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina. Bring your cameras, and you camcorders for some great memories on some of the most challenging public roads you will ever drive.

Strong Stock is not a race. So speedy cars are not needed. Strong Stock will challenge your cars handling prowess, and your driving ability. Mini-Vans need not apply.

Strong Stock will meet in Townsend Tennesee on Friday May 4th at 8am. After the meet and greet, you will fuel up your cars, get some travel food and drink. We will then head out and hammer out the blacktop on US Route 129, otherwide known as the Tail of the Dragon, or Deals Gap.

Don't worry about showing up late. Just head out to Deals Gap and join us for the fun. Wait for us on the overlook! You are welcome to come and go as you please. You can take a look at the other roads around the area. In 2006 a group of use got to take in the sights of high speeds, mountain roads and high elevations with awesome overlooks!
Friday night finishes with a group dinner and then hang out and tell lies... I mean stories in the parking lots until the wee hours.

We wake up on Saturday morning and head of to drive the Tail of the Dragon. 318 turns in 11 miles! We do it all over again!

Sunday will have us doing one last run of the Dragon and then we will be heading home.

Cost of Event

As always Strong Stock events are free to enter. You will have to pay for your lodging, fuel and food. To lower costs look at sharing rooms with other participants. It is a good idea to set this up before you show up, or you could end up sleeping in your car with the bears and other forest creatures. If we offer t-shirts there will be costs for those.

Strong Stock is NOT a car show. It is NOT a race. It is a gathering of like minded people who like having a good time in the Toyota MR2. Other makes of cars are invited. We wont make fun of you if you show up in a Mercedes or a Hyundai.

What You Will Need

Warning:
The Mid-Atlantic is the land of road kill. Expensive front spoilers have been known to explode into a gazillion pieces if you run over these dead creatures. Animals range from small Mice to large Deer and Elephants. Extremely lowered cars need to be aware of this. It is also a good practice to bring a vehicle with decent suspension travel. Strong Stock is held on public roads, not race tracks, so super stiff lowered cars do not fare well.

Trees, branches, rocks, tractors, leaves, carcasses, birds, bird droppings, meteors, fog, snow, rain, on-coming traffic, slow moving traffic, old people on Sunday drives, tattooed bikers, rice rockets showing off, red necks in pick'em ups with guns in the back window, banjos and chickens are hazards that you may see on Strong Stock. Be prepared for anything. Because anything can and probably will happen.

What We Will Give You

When you arrive you will be given a safety briefing, and a brief over view of the rules of the road. The local police will know all about Strong Stock, so please be aware of that when you show up. No showing off with burnouts or super sonic fly-bys.

You will be given a route map and welcome pack, with driving instructions. The groups have normally been split off into cars and drivers that travel a bit more aggressive than some of the others. So slower drivers need to stay back. There is no shame in this. The idea is to have fun and not kill yourself by getting in over your head. Please remember that. If you get stopped for speeding, then you will be left behind.

You car will be looked at. If I see a car that does not look like it will make the event distance without falling apart, I will ask you to leave. This will be informal. So if you car does not make it, then please do not blame me.

You will sign a letter of release of liability. Just the normal stuff we do.

Event T-Shirts may be available. We will discuss this if there is enough call for them.
